There are a lot of people on LinkedIn and other job boards, going through the never ending job search. Countless applications, resumes posted, no call backs…the list goes on. However, I have a ChatGPT prompt that can help some of you that I have seen looking to switch paths and wondering if it something you can do without a bunch of additional schooling or rigorous pointless work. Here is an awesome way to find out. It’s called the Knowledge Gap Analysis. Paste this prompt into ChatGPT, upload a resume and add a job description of a job you have seen that you may want to do, or a career that you want to pursue.

Prompt: “Evaluate my attached resume and review the job description of the position I want to transition to. Tell me what knowledge gaps I have and what I can do to fill this gap.”

Prompt “Evaluate my attached resume and tell me what knowledge gaps I have in order to become a _______.”

Once you get your analysis, you can take it a step further by asking it what classes or courses you can take at _______ school. You can paste the link or just type the school/program name. It will tell you exactly what you need to take, or if you can just add a few additional projects. You can keep playing with different career paths even. Give it different scenarios and see what seems to be the easiest path for you.

The GPT will also give you a schedule of courses and tell you how long each class will take. It even goes so far as to tell you how long it will take you to reach your goal. You end up with a complete plan to get you to where you need to be.

As you complete your classes or projects, or even change your mind, you can go back to the same conversation, add the information and tell it to reevaluate. The conversation will save your resume, so there is no need to upload each time.
